and we have enjoyed some pleasant successes along the way. Whether eating chicken or feathers, working in the great out doors up here in the beautiful Elkhorn Mountains of Eastern Oregon surely has been a very rewarding life style for us. WOW.... was I impressed! The Tesoro was picking up very small nuggets in highly mineralized ground and showing us where to start mining. It soon became our front line prospecting tool. We soon applied for and received a dealership for the incredible line of TESORO METAL DETECTORS In the last few years, GARRETT has made some impressive strides in the metal detecting industry. Now we are proud to add their line of excellent metal detectors to our inventory! Whether mining equipment or metal detectors there is some excellent equipment out there at reasonable prices and some not so excellent equipment at exhorbatant prices. But here at Boulder Patch Mines, we are dedicated to only selling metal detecting and gold mining equipment that meets the high standards i require from the tools i use in my operations! |
The "ELIS Placer Mine"
Orginally, this was the site of
the elis placer mine back in the 1800's. this mine is now the current site
of our boulder patch mines placer operation. though this location has
endured 100 years of gold mining activity and produced large amounts of
gold, this site is still very recognizable today from this picture. this
particular deposit is an ancient river chanel with a glacier deposit over
top, all of it carrying gold! it is approximately 50 foot deep & still
covers about 10 acers.

The "Cathouse"
Bourne Ghost Town These are the remains of the
infamous "cathouse" in bourne, just a few miles outside of sumpter,
oregon. this site was reportedly the local "cat house in the ghost town of
bourne. now, according to legend, the cathouse was built a couple miles
out of town at the insistence of the city fathers of the time.
but...........i wonder if the local mothers and wives had any influence on
that decision? shacks like this are great for treasure hunting with a
metal detector!

Every find is exciting! This is a picture of a whole stash of coins we found on one of our treasure hunting trips to an old tumbled down gold miner's shack. and......... with my tesoro lobo metal detector, i was able to detect quite easily this pile of coins a foot below the rotten floor boards! my theory is that a pack rat had rounded up these coins and carefully stored them in his nest, just waiting for me to come along and claim them. you never know what may turn up in these locations, and that is what metal detecting is all about! |
